A CamScanner Alternative for iPhone, Without the Watermark
A watermark on an export is a pricing decision, not a technical limit. Here is what actually changes when you leave a cloud scanner for one that never uploads anything.
Why free scanners watermark at all
A watermark is the most efficient advertisement ever invented for this category. It rides along on a document you send to a landlord, an employer or an insurer, it is seen by people who were not looking for a scanner, and it keeps working for as long as the file exists. It costs the developer nothing and costs you a small amount of credibility on every document you send.
The alternative is to charge for the app, or to put advertising inside it. Paperlane takes the second route: no export from any tier carries a mark, and the free version is paid for by ads that live in the app and never touch the file. A banner sits under the library, and a full screen ad can appear when you close a document, never in your first session and never more often than once every three minutes. Google's consent form asks first, Ad privacy in the settings lets you change your answer, and the one time Pro purchase removes advertising entirely.
What a cloud scanner does that this one cannot
Leaving a server based scanner has real costs. They should be on the table before you install anything.

Before you delete the old app
Export first. Paperlane cannot import an existing PDF library. It builds documents from what you scan and from photos in your photo library. So pull anything you care about out of the old app and store it somewhere you control, then start scanning new paper here. Deleting a cloud scanner also removes your access to whatever is still sitting on its servers.
