Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 June 2026
Paperlane is built to be private by default. The short version: we collect nothing.
Your documents stay on your device
Scanning, edge detection, perspective correction, OCR and PDF creation all happen on your iPhone using Apple's on-device frameworks. Your scanned documents and their contents are never uploaded, never sent to us, and never leave your device. We do not have access to them and we do not collect them.
No account, and no analytics of our own
Paperlane has no login or account, and we run no analytics of our own. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or usage data, and we never see the contents of your scans.
Advertising in the free version
The free version shows ads, which are served by Google AdMob. Google receives device and ad-request data in order to deliver and measure those ads, and may use an advertising identifier for that purpose. We never send Google your scans or anything from inside them.
Before any ad loads, you are asked for consent through Google's consent form, and separately for permission to track through Apple's system prompt. You can decline both, in which case Google serves only non-personalised ads and no advertising identifier is used. Your choice can be changed at any time under Ad privacy in the app's settings.
Buying the one-time Pro unlock removes all advertising, and with it the ad requests to Google.
Google's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.
What we collect
- Scanned documents and their contents: not collected (processed on-device only).
- Personal information, contacts, location, usage data: not collected.
- Identifiers and advertising data: not collected by us. Handled by Google AdMob for advertising in the free version, subject to the consent choices above.
Purchases
The optional one-time Pro unlock is processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Children
Paperlane is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
