An Adobe Scan Alternative for iPhone
Adobe Scan is a good app. It is also the front door to an account and a cloud. Whether that is a feature or a cost depends entirely on what you scan.
Where Adobe Scan is the better choice
This part is not a formality. If any of these describe you, stay where you are.
- You already pay for AcrobatScans landing in Document Cloud and appearing in Acrobat on your desktop is worth more than anything a standalone app offers. Paperlane has no desktop anything.
- You need the same library everywhereAdobe syncs across iPhone, iPad, Android and the browser. Paperlane is iPhone only, and it has no sync at all. A document scanned on your phone stays on your phone.
- You want backup you never think aboutCloud storage means a lost phone is an inconvenience. With Paperlane a lost phone without a device backup is a lost library, and that is the honest cost of having no servers.

If you do move
Two practical notes. Paperlane cannot import an existing PDF library, so anything already in Adobe should be exported and kept wherever you keep files. It builds documents from what you scan and from photos in your photo library, and nothing else.
And there is no reason to pick one. Plenty of people keep Adobe for work documents that have to reach a desktop, and use a local scanner for the paper that should never leave the phone in the first place.
